I have checked

and seen this:

cp /build/buildd/grass7-7.0/debian/xgrass7
/build/buildd/grass7-7.0/debian/grass7/usr/bin/grass70
cp: cannot create regular file
`/build/buildd/grass7-7.0/debian/grass7/usr/bin/grass70': No such file
or directory
make: *** [install] Error 1

Perhaps just the name is a bit different? Above I see a line
make[5]: `/build/buildd/grass7-7.0/dist.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/docs/man/man1/grass7.1'
is up to date.

so the start script maybe "grass7.1" rather than grass70 (as it should
ideally be).
