I don't mind about ffmpeg for animation creation -- hopefully most people wont 
mind too. What "hurts" more is nviz not working, which means, literally no 3D-
mode available in wxGUI (right?).

strange, I do have

wx-config --version
2.8.12

but xganim compiled fine!
