 I can reproduce the bug on Linux in 7.0.svn. Backporting locally r65741
 fixes the segfault, new output is:

 {{{
 v.patch -e --verbose input=geology at PERMANENT,streams at PERMANENT
 output=testvpatchwithattributes
 ERROR: Number of columns differ
 }}}

 If there are no side-effects, I propose to backport it.
