I would leave both as static and not merge them.
They are not identical and targets a a bit different (I agree that
there is overlap).
Note that both URLs have been actively promoted in the past 48h+ so
that we need to keep them. Not a real issue :-)

Future:
New release, new page. Since we want to turn back to the "release
[more] often" paradigm the upcoming pages will be way shorter.
