GEOS: 3.4.2

Python: 2.7.4                                                                   
wxPython: 2.8.12.1                                                              
Platform: Windows-7-6.1.7601-SP1 (OSGeo4W)

a ms windows error message window:

'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0xf6 in position 8: invalid start byte

pops up when invoking e.g.

d.vect
r.slope.aspect
...

and following error message:
