 == Update ==

 If the maps generated by `r.surf.gauss` are deleted with `g.remove`
 explicitly (instead of overwriting with the "--o" flag) then there are 0
 cases (out of 1000) in which read errors are reported.

 Testing on a different disk to see if that makes any difference.
