you misunderstood the statement.

Run

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntugis/ubuntugis-unstable

when using LTS.

On non-LTS release (like Ubuntu 17.10) run

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:grass/grass-stable

instead.

So probably instructions needs some clarification ;-) Ma
