I have generalized the IRC CGI proxy at telascience so it includes a variety
of OSGeo channels, including #grass.

However, it doesn't work for me apparently due to some funky proxy stuff
my satellite internet provider does.  So it might not work for some other
people.  Nevertheless it is worth a try.
