[GRASS-PSC] GRASS PSC elections 2026 — Nomination of Alen Mangafić

[Chief Return Officer (CRO) - GRASS GIS election 2026]

Dear members of the GRASS community,

Alen Mangafić has accepted a nomination by Linda Karlovská:


/Alen works at the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia as a Senior Geospatial 
Data Scientist. His main areas of expertise include multispectral, 
hyperspectral, and SAR data, as well as LiDAR point clouds. He is a big 
open-source enthusiast and uses GRASS on a daily basis./

More recently, he has been the main initiator and developer of the 
i.hyper module, which is now part of the GRASS Addons. Alen is also a 
very good communicator and does a great job representing GRASS at 
various events. In particular, I would highlight his recent activities 
at FOSS4G Europe 2024, FOSS4G 2025 Auckland, and FOSS4G 2026 Hiroshima, 
where he led workshops on point-cloud processing in GRASS. He has also 
given numerous presentations at these events and has presented the State 
of GRASS several times.

Last but not least, Alen is very active in the local community in 
Slovenia, where he has presented GRASS at events such as Open Source 
Geospatial Slovenia and GeoDev Slovenia. He has also been a regular and 
active participant in GRASS code sprints over the past few years.

Looking at everything I have just listed, I almost feel like Alen is 
already doing some of the work of the PSC - so joining the PSC would 
simply give him the opportunity to do it in a more official way and, in 
his own words, “to be even more involved with GRASS and contribute more 
consistently to the project./
