[GRASS-stats] raster package

I tried following the instructions suggested to upgrade my version of R by adding a new cran mirror to my repositories.

I have tried both

deb http://www.stats.bris.ac.uk/R/bin/linux/ubuntu/ lucid
and
deb http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/ lucid

But these repositories crash out my system on reload with the error
Failed to fetch http://www.stats.bris.ac.uk/R/bin/linux/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz  404  Not Found
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

If anyone has been successful upgrading to the latest R from Ubuntu 10.04 could you please give me some tips on where I'm going wrong?
