[GRASS-stats] Number of pixels in the mask with circular r.neighbors

Dear list,

I calculated with r.neighbors (method=circular) the number of pixels 
whose value=1. I would like to be able to transform this as the 
proportion of cell with 1. From the manual, it is not clear if above r = 
9 cells in diameter, the mask always contains r² - 4 * (r-1) pixels.
Does anyone know this ?
