Contributed code on the moon

     The source code in the grass4.0.updated directory on moon.cecer.army.mil
has now been switched over to an all cpio format.  The path of updates in all
cpio files begins at src, src.contrib, or src.related, whichever is valid for
the given command.  For example, m.dem.extract would be stored as the
following:

src/misc/m.dem.extract
src/misc/m.dem.extract/Gmakefile
src/misc/m.dem.extract/HELP
src/misc/m.dem.extract/MAN
src/misc/m.dem.extract/get_prof.c
[...etc...]

     We are strongly considering changing moon to a cpio-only archive site to
save the space that the redundant tar files take up.  If anyone foresees a
major problem with this policy if applied to the entire archive, or if anyone
has any problem with the new contibuted source code format, please send email
to  ftp-admin at moon.cecer.army.mil .

     There are short help files for cpio in all contributed src code
directories.  If anyone needs help with, or has questions or suggestions about
the ftp site, please send email to the above address.
