I will assume that my previous response to this was lost also.  


First, these questions are more appropriate for the grassp-list  mail list.

curses.C  is loaded by the file  src/mapdev/digitizers/*/dig_curses.c
The reason why does not necessarily make any sense, but none the less
that is the way things currently are.  The ATTCURSES.C file is a replacement
for curses.C which sometimes works better on strict ATT SYS V versions of
UNIX.   It is generally not needed.


If you are interested in contributing your changes to v.digit back to the
GRASS community, I would recommend coordinating efforts with the Office of
GRASS Integration or with myself, as we are currently making significant
changes to v.digit and are planing more in the future.
