I think you are refering to r.slpe.aspect. This generates two layers from
a DEM - slope (ie steepness) and aspect (the direction the land is facing -
ie NW, SW, NE, etc).

|I have been using GRASS for a couple of years, but I an now trying to
|do some landscape modeling.  Is there a Slope-Position function somewhere
|in GRASS?  Or closely related to GRASS?  
|I appreciate your thoughts and ideas.
