Alberts Equal Area/UTM

Looking for basic info/references for working with multiple maps of
differing projections. 
For example, I have elev. ,slope,aspect in UTM at 1:250,000.  Am
looking to also work with DLG
landuse/cover at 1:2,000,000 in Alberts Equal area.  

Specifically, how would I convert the DLG to be compatible with the
other data , in a given GRASS region? 
Any suggestions, or references appreciated.
