NDVI

Dear USers

I am establishing a database of vegetation change for southern Africa.
When using r.in.ascii I found that I was unable to import floating-point
real numbers generated from an NDVI. Can Grass cope with NDVI's ?  IF
yes, can I have details of the procedure used for importing 2-byte
integers.
