No subject

Does anyone know mapgen well enough to know if it is supposed to
work in LOCATIONS other than UTM?  We haven't succeeded in getting
it to work in anything other than UTM...  Am I doing something
wrong?  Are there any special signals or tricks?  We are especially
interested in Lat/Long and state plane systems.  Thanks in advance 
for any help or insights!
