Problem with i.tape.mss

The programs were designed to expect 1600 bpi tapes so the images
extended over multiple tapes. With 6250 it all fits on one tape, but
the program (i.tape.mss I assume) isn't smart enough to figure this out.

|We're trying to extract images from MSS tapes (6250 bpi).
|if we enter start and end values as 
|   rows:1-2984
|   cols:1-3548
|
|   rows 1-1491 are extracted and then it asks for the  TAPE 2 to be mounted.
|But if we run i.tape.other  we can extract all the rows 
|(hence the complete image).
|Can someone tell us the reason behind this ?
