r.le.tex output

I compiled the r.le modules and am running them with GRASS4.1beta.   The
r.le.setup and r.le.tex modules give me all their prompts, and I am told that
output from r.le.tex has been written in the ./r.le.out subdirectory.  When I
examine the contents of this directory, it is empty.  There are no run time
errors telling me what may have gone wrong.  Does anyone have an idea what
