GRASS4.1 & Altek AC40 controller

GRASSuser's;

Another digitizer problem, except this time it's after a connection HAS
been established with the digitizer. We are using an Altek digitizer with
a AC40 controller, connected with a serial cable and null modem adaptor
to /dev/ttyb. We are using GRASS4.1 binaries compiled with Solaris 1.x,
but are running it on a SPARClassic using Solaris2.2. (No success yet
with gcc 2.4.5 compilation, but that's another question for next time.)

V.digit starts fine, accepts input in the set-up screens, allows a map to
be registered, but then bombs out after accepting the residuals and going
to the next screen. It appears that the numbers numbers denoting
position are scrolling madly in the instant before the program kicks out
and we're back at the GRASS prompt.

The digitizer does not work if the above sequence is repeated UNLESS it is
reset, (by turning off, then on).

We are using the al40f8_16 digitizer driver.

Thanks for any help that can be offered.
