county maps of the US and Canada

GRASS-netters--

I need both raster and vector maps of the US and Canada in lat/lon
coordinates (GRASS 4.1) down to the county level.  Before I digitize, I
thought I'd ask whether anyone else has already done it and is willing
to share.  Specifically, I need a map with national boundries, state
(or province) boundries, and counties.  The raster map needs a separate
category assigned to each county.  Of course, all I really need is the
vector map to save digitizing time-- I can all the label points for
each county myself if necessary and convert to raster [but if you
already have then I know the polygons are all closed...:-)].

Oh-- I can convert from ARC/INFO if necessary, as well.
