Help! No PERMANENT mapset

Hi, Enrique:

I had that problem before.  The reason for mine was I created a map location
using 'mkdir dir-name' before running GRASS.   Why not you just try entering grass first (by typying grass4.1) then at 'LOCATION:   spearfish_____ ', type over
spearfish with a name that has NOT been created as a directory under your 
$DATABASE.  This should solve your problem.  Good luck.
