For those who want to compile s.surf.tps an have missed
the following message, I am sending it out again:

Thanks to several people already trying to compile the new
s.surf.tps and reporting problems. The bitmap related programs
were not on moon (as they are part of 4.1)
 They are there now and  to compile the new
s.surf.tps you have to do the following:


get files from moon:

all the files in directory
   grass/grass4.0/updates/src/libes/bitmap

and file:

   grass/grass4.0/updates/src/include/bitmap.h


To compile, you will need changes to file:

    grass/grass4.0/updates/src/CMD/generic/make.mid


  make backup of original make.mid and try copying in place and recompile.
if that doesn't work,   lines of importance are:

CFLAGS      =  $(COMPILE_FLAGS) $(EXTRA_CFLAGS) -I$(INCLUDE_DIR) $(USE_TERMIO)
INCLUDE_DIR = $(SRC)/include
BITMAPLIB    = $(LIBDIR)/libbitmap.a

However, the s.surf.tps which is on moon now,   
has a bug in the computation of aspect, (if apsect
is between 0 and 0.5 it gives aspect 0 what is
undefined and it should be 360 what is east).
The bug has been fixed and the fixed version of
s.surf.tps is in 4.1, which should
appear on moon soon.
