Altek digitizer

We have an Altek model AC31 Datatab digitizer.  While it works
relatively well with v.digit, we occasionally get the following
error either during map registration or while in stream digitizing
mode: 
     Hold: digitizer out of sync
        Trying to recover

I would like to talk to someone with an Altek AC31 Controller to
confirm DIP switch settings and possibly cable (wiring) connections.
