Hi,

You can make your own fifo's by doing the following:

cd $GISBASE/dev  ($GISBASE is the dir where GRASS resides)
mknod fifo.1a p (don't forget the p!!!)
chmod 666 fifo.1a

do the same for the other fifo's you need (have a look at the file
$GISBASE/etc/monitorcap)
