FACULTY POSITION IN GIS - UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO, USA

POSITION: The University of Arkansas at Monticello seeks applicants for 
a 12-month, tenure track position in the School of Forest Resources.
The position includes research, teaching, extension and provision of
technical service in the School and the Center for Integrated Forest
Management Strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a doctorate with one degree in
natural sciences (forestry preferred), and a strong background in
geographic information systems (GIS), image processing, image analysis,
and remote sensing.  They must also have a proven record in research and
teaching or extension, with experience and training in quantitative methods
preferred, and the ability to function effectively in a teamwork setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities include conducting research using
GIS and image analysis related to integrated forestry and wildlife 
issues; developing an undergraduate course in remote sensing and GIS;
managing the GIS Laboratory; providing technical service to other
faculty using the Lab; conducting technologytransfer and continuing
education programs in GIS and remote sensing; and stimulating
extra-mural funding for support of the GIS Lab.

STARTING DATE: Negotiable, but desired in late summer of 1993.

RANK AND SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

POSITION SETTING: The School of Forest Resources is located in a region
of intense forestry activity with excellent opportunities for 
cooperative research efforts with industry, the US Forest Service and
other organizations.  The School has programs in teaching, research,
and extension with 21 faculty and professional positions.  The School
is a part of the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus in 
southeast Arkansas.
