In the final 4.1 release, there will be a G_strdup() function (in the gis
library) that is used by all GRASS programs requiring a strdup()-like
library routine.

If anybody has a more urgent need to build stuff that depends on strdup()
or strstr() , I can make updated versions of the strings.c and gisdefs.h
files available on the FTP site.
