As some of you may already know, SPOT Image, Inc. has been distributing
the SPOT pancromatic and MSS imagery in a new format so-called SPOTView.
SPOTView is a georeferenced and ortho-corrected digital (and non-digital) map
product of SPOT imagery.
Some advantages of SPOTView are:
(1) Delivered in "GIS" format for easy ingestion in vector/raster GIS;
(2) Geo-referenced & ortho-corrected;
(3) Accurate to several National Map Accuracy Standards;
(4) Framed in standard USGS map sizes (7.5", 15", etc...).

Four steps allow you to directly extract geo-referenced SPOTView image
into GRASS raster file:
(1) Unload the SPOTView data from tape or CD-ROM to the disk;
(2) Run i.tape.other to read SPOTView BIL (Band Interleaved format)
image file from the disk;
(3) Run i.target to link the current X-Y LOCATION to an existing GRASS
geo-registered LOCATION;
(4) Run i.spotview.geo to automatically generate geo-referenced image
in target LOCATION.
I wrote a C-shell script "i.spotview.geo" to complete above mission.
Once I write a manual page for i.spotview.geo, I would like to send the script
to "grass/incoming" on moon or put it on CAST ftp site here in Univ. of Ark.
