I keep a sample AVHRR image on my anon-ftp site on 
snow.nohrsc.nws.gov, along with a number of graphics tools and
viewers.  During the snow season, there are near-real-time 
AVHRR false color composite images in JPEG form, snow-water
equivalent maps, snow-cover GIFs and weekly summaries.
Sorry, no ski reports!
