Digitizer on a PC coonected to Workstation

Is it possible to connect a digitizer to a PC which is running LInux ?
Let me briefly explain our setup. We have compiled grass4.1 on a 
Hp 750 9000, There are PC's that run Linux. I can start grass4.1
from the Linux boxes. Is it possible for me to connect the 
digitizer to one of the linux boxes, without having compiled
grass on the Linux.
