Projections in GRASS

added to the present list, I could use

Simple Conic (Equidistant conic) (with 2 std parallels)
SOmething for Polar regions (eg Stereographic, orthographic, airy - or 
whatever anyone else wants to suggest)

For everyone's amusement, we are planning on using GRASS to 
start a study of VENUS using Magellan data!  Of course, we will have 
to worry a bit about the correct ellipsoid ... ;-)
