abandonment of the GRASS project?

Hello there:

I haven't been able to follow the email too closely over the past
three or so months, but from the tidbits I have picked up, I get the
im*pres*sion that the GRASS project is being abandoned.

Is this true?  If it is (or if this is even *close* to being the
case), could someone fill me in on the "scoop?"  Could someone tell me
where (on the moon, say) I could find out more information about this?
Or, alternatively, could someone tell me how far off the mark I am?
