Jim, the only way GRASS is going to abandoned soon is if the person
with the lame mailer sending those zip-code messages doesn't pull the
plug soon!

While things may be changing within the GRASS community,
GRASS itself is neither dying or even ill.
The Open GIS Foundation has just officially taken over
the responsibilities and functions of the GRASS Information
Center (formerly at CERL, OGI).
I receive 10 -15 calls/faxes/email messages a week from
folks wanting GRASS, ordering manuals, inquiring about harware
specs., etc.....
Plans are well underway for the release of GRASS5.0 some
time late 1995.
