I have written a set of database programs that can sort on a simple
flatfile stored in your LOCATION. One of the modules is db.r.show,
which logically queries the datafile and highlights those categories
for which the query is true. With some small amount of tweeking you
could modify the module to work on vector files, I have done this
for some of the modules but was to busy to do it for all.
The programs are available by anonymous ftp at ohlone.ced.berkeley.edu
/pub/grass/gdbase.tar.Z You will need to have gawk (public-domain
version of awk) to run these.
