PROBLEMS Initializing grass!!!!

Update on problem:

MY MACHINE seems to be confused.  During the envoking of grass,
it gives the following message.

Sorry, <MONITOR> is not a valid parameter
ERROR: Required parameter <input> not set:
(Name of the site file with input x,y,z).

Usage:
 g.gisenv [-d] input=name [devi=name] [treefile=name] [overfile=name]
   [elev=name] [slope=name] [aspect=name] [pcurv=name] [tcurv=
   [mcurv=name] [maskmap=name] [dmin=value] [zmult=value] [tension=v
   [mcurv=name] [maskmap=name] [dmin=value] [zmult=value] [tension=vFlags:utput partial derivatives 
 -d   Output partial derivatives 

Parameters:
 input   Name of the site file with input x,y,
     devi   Name of the output deviations site 
 treefile   Output vector file showing segmentation
overfile   Output vector file showing overlapping 
  elev   Output z-file (elevation)
  slope   Slope

(ect. ...)

Looks like an s.surf.tps program.  I was trying to put the
new s.surf.tps program in from the new interp library.

Anyone got a clue?
