v.patch,v.digit

After importing some spaghetti data and patching it to a base
map, I am left with a bunch of green or open nodes.  I assume
the way to handle these nodes is through the snapping threshold
in v.support.  What units is the snapping threshold set in?  Is 
it the same as my map units?  If there is a better way to handle
this other than v.support please let me know.
