xearth program

Just a quick question on xearth. Having successfully transferred the files on 
unpacking the file I get a checksum error.

tar:Directory checksum error, possible file name:
xearth-0.5 tari\#$%*&@ etc 

Just wanted to know if this is just a problem at my end, has anyone else found this?

I used tar -xvf 'filename' to untar.
