s.surf.3d

I'm trying to use s.surf.3d on 3-dimensional site data. 
I concluded that the format of the site_lists file must
be x|y|#z|w after numerous error messages using other
formats.  However when I run s.surf.3d, I get an error
message "invalid label on line 207497 of input site
file".  The string 207497 does not appear anywhere in my
site_lists file.  Is my site_lists format incorrect or
is this some other problem?  Any help would be
aprreciated.
