As a matter of fact our remote sensing people have one set up.
It was in a Sparc 2 until two weeks ago and is now in a Sparc 10
Model 30.  We use the standard grass XDRIVER (8 bit mode) just fine.
They also run ERDAS and ARC at the same time.
