Satellite Help

Hi, I'm a new grass user and I'm wondering if there is a way to import
images into raster maps?  I'm working with GOES-7 data and would
appreciate any help I can get.  Is there a manual on importing images?
I've got the programs working that navigate the raw data, but I am
confused as to the next step in viewing the data.
