Importing Intergraph data

Hi all
	I have some Intergraph degign (.dgn) files which I would like to use in GRASS.  I have exported them to dxf format and imported the data, but then discovered that the attributes or map categories did not come across. 

The Question is what is the best way to import Intergraph degign files to GRASS and maintain all of attributes or map categories.
