Yes, there is an Xgrass for Linux.  You can buy it from someone in Europe.
To compile Xgrass by yourself, you need Motif (you need to get it from third
parties).  Xgrass is nice in the GUI part but slow to me.  Although there are
several nice functions in Xgrass (Xdisplay and color adjustment), it is not
very steady on my Sun SPARC machine.

I don't remember who is selling the Xgrass for Linux but you can find it out
through the GRASS archive.
