File size and grass4.1

Hi there,

I'm trying to get a US image (the whole country) into Grass4.1. I seem to
remenber reading somewhere that grass could only handle a file as large
as 4.2 Mb ? Is this true  ?

The map I have is  ,

 13251843Mb

Is it possible to get this into one rast file display in Grass ? If not
what is the alternative, more memory , using r.patch ?

Any suggestions would be helpful
