Another idea is to put a string that tells 
about the request to cite the author's/ organizations
names when the program exits.

so if there is a command by name g.command
then 
g.command 
or
g.command -h

can have a one/two line string that tells about 
the author.

ex:

Author: Real Sample
Please Cite source if published.

At least this way people may not forget to cite.
