d.vect floating point error

Good Morning,

I'm trying to run d.vect in Grass4.1 on an Alpha. OSF v1 1.3, 2.0 . I keep 
running into a problem with a floating point error when trying to display 
an example file "fields, roads, quads" etc in spearfish database.

Has anyone experienced this problem before ? Is this a pointers problem ?

If so where a good placeto start to rectify the problem. 
Running d.rast works fine.
