v.report - Error in length?

I have been using v.report to measure the length of stream reaches.  Upon
checking the results however, it appears the answers are almost double
what they should be.  Has anyone else had a similar experience  or know
what my problem might be?  I am running Grass 4.12 on a Sun SparcII.
