AVHRR DATA CONVERSION

Dear Colleagues,

I am a Ph.D student at the Department of Geological Sciences
of the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, working on integration of
satellite, gravity and magnetic data sets using the GIS systems.

I obtain AVHRR (HRPT/LAC) satellite data from the SDSD archives via ftp.
I have been trying to convert this data into an image and I have not
been able to do that. Since all the file I got is in binary I have also not
been able to determine where the header file starts and end and where the
image data starts and stop. I am therefore soliciting advice on how to
proceed with the conversion of this data into an image.

I got the address of this discussion forum from a coleague and he
advised that this forum could help me out.
