SIlicon Graphics Compression

Hello,

This is not exactly a GIS question, sorry.

I'm converting some of GRASS maps to Silicon Graphics Image files for someone, 
but they're not sure if they can uncompress .Z files (compressed on a SUN).  An
yone out there using Silicon Graphics that could answer this?  Thanks,
