Annoying automatic confirmations

Sorry to post this to the list, but I'm not sure where else to send
it. My mailbox is being flooded with annoying automatic message
confirmations (~ 10/day) coming through the grassu list. This is even
worse than the ever-present subscription request problem. Here's an
example:

> Confirmation of reading: your message -
>
> Date: 21 Mar 95 14:52
> To: grassu-list at max.cecer.army.mil
> Subject: subscribe

> Toolnet 9:1031/4.30
> --------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that one common denominator is that all were originated by
Pegasus Mail v3.2, but I might be mistaken about that. Anyway, is
everyone else receiving these as well? Can anything be done to turn
them off?
