Compiling in Linux

Hello, 

I am currently compiling GRASS under Linux 1.1.59.  I am getting many
warning messages.  Mostly about "incompatible pointer types" and things
being "declared 'extern' and later 'static'".  Does anynoe know how I 
can fix these warnings or if they are o.k.?  Thanks.
